CCD: A charge coupled device, is an electronic memory that can be charged by light, usually from within the device to an area where the charge can be manipulated and or stored. Single CCD digital color cameras use a Bayer filter array over the CCD. Each square of four pixels has one filtered red, one blue, and two green. The luminance information is collected at every pixel, but the color resolution is lower than the luminance resolution, (the human eye is more sensitive to luminance and green than either red or blue)
